Installing the Heaviest Monopile Foundations Ever Used
Offshore wind is one of the biggest new markets in maritime industry. On 8 May, the Northern department of the KNVTS organises a lecture on the transport and installation of offshore wind foundations. Speaker at the lecture is Edwin van de Brug, commercial manager Ballast Nedam Offshore. This company uses its vessel, the HLV Svanen, for delivering and installing wind turbine foundations.
Van de Brug will focus on the installation of the monopiles for the offshore windfarm Walnet 2 in England. The heaviest monopole foundations ever used have been installed for this project (the poles are 6.5 m in diameter, 70 m long and weigh up to 850 t a piece).
