Damen Launches FISV 6210 for Angola
Damen Shipyards Galati has launched the Ngola Kiluange, a Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel (FISV) 6210, for the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries. Another vessel of this type is currently under construction at the Galati Shipyard, as is a smaller, 28 m long Fishery Research Vessel (an Damen FRV 2810), also commissioned by the Angolan Ministry.

Wärtsilä Branches Out with Acquisition of Hamworthy
Wärtsilä has completed the acquisition of Hamworthy. The control of the company was transferred as of 31 January 2012. The acquisition will enhance Wärtsilä's capabilities in the offshore, marine gas applications, and environmental solutions markets and it will provide synergies.

Largest Bulk Carrier Ever to Visit the Port of Rotterdam
Recently, the Port of Rotterdam welcomed the Vale Rio de Janeiro, the largest dry bulk carrier ever to visit Rotterdam. The vessel transports iron ore, has a load capacity of 400,000 t and a maximum depth of 23 m. RTV Rijnmond shot this video of the vessel.

Damen Shipyards Receives Orders for Five Pontoons
In December 2011, Damen Pontoons & Barges signed three contracts for a total of five purpose-built Damen Stan Pontoons: two 6511s for Mammoet Maritime (the Netherlands), two 8916 ICEs for Silverburn Shipping (I.O.M.) Ltd (UK) and one 4113 for Rhumb Maritime (Australia). Delivery will take place between March and September 2012.
