Bakker Achieves Efficiency Gains with New Vacuum Drying Oven

Bakker Repair + Services has purchased a new vacuum drying oven that replaces the old small thermal drying oven. The new drying method's main advantages are less aging of the insulation material, a cleaner dryer, a significant increase in throughput and a ninety per cent reduction in CO2 compared to the old drying oven.

The special thing about vacuum drying is the low boiling point of +/- 30 to 40 degrees. With a conventional thermal drying oven, the boiling point is 100 degrees. As a result, the insulation material ages many times less than before. In addition, the boiling point is reached very quickly in comparison to the conventional oven. This has the advantage that the water evaporates faster and takes more dirt particles with it.

Shorter Processing Time

The low boiling point has the positive effect of shortening the processing time of the drying of electric motors, generators and transformers. The vacuum drying installation both reaches the right temperature and cools down faster. The low temperature also ensures that temperature-sensitive parts and wiring do not have to be disassembled. Both advantages mean a tripling of the drying capacity.

More Sustainable Workshop

The arrival of the vacuum oven also results in a significant CO2 reduction of ninety per cent compared to the old one. The old gas-powered drying oven used 120 KW. The new vacuum drying oven running on electricity consumes 18 KW. The purchase therefore also makes a major contribution to the desired environmental objective of making the workshop more sustainable.

The drying process of electric motors, generators and transformers is an important part of the business activities of Bakker Repair + Services.
