New 55 Metre Huisman Yacht Stays Below 500 GT

Royal Huisman has revealed the first construction photos of Project Phi. The yacht will be over 55 metres long, but thanks to the Fast-Displacement XL concept, the yacht stays within the sub-500 GT category.

Project Phi was first announced in last summer. Construction of the aluminium hull of this fast displacement motoryacht began in February 2019. The yacht is being built at Royal Huisman’s Vollenhove shipyard.

Fast-Displacement XL Concept

Exceptional features of this project are the fuel-efficient hull lines based on the patented Fast-Displacement XL concept by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, who are responsible to maximise the yacht’s length of over 55 metres/180 feet while remaining within the sub-500GT category. The resulting hull will provide a comfortable and stable platform for this radical and high performance vessel, notwithstanding the relatively narrow beam.

Exterior and Interior Remain Secret

At this stage, Royal Huisman cannot share details of Phi’s exterior design from Cor D. Rover, or of its interior appearance from Lawson Robb. Both remain highly secret. The yacht builder was able to reveal the yacht will feature extensive external deck space.

Hull turning is scheduled for summer 2019. Delivery of Project Phi is scheduled for 2021.
