Damen Launches Its First Hybrid Tug

Damen Shipyards has launched its first hybrid tug - the ASD Tug 2810 Hybrid – of which Iskes Towage & Salvage will be the launching customer. The Dutch shipyard group is believed to be the only yard worldwide building hybrid tugs for stock. The second hybrid vessel will be available from stock end-2013.

Wärtsilä to Power Six Brazilian Drill Ships

Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, has contracted Wärtsilä to supply main generating engines and thrusters for six new deep water drill ships to be built in Brazil at Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz. The contract was signed at the end of September.

Subsea 7 has been awarded the Varg Gas Export Contract from Talisman Energy Norge AS for the development of a gas export pipeline at the Varg field, located 200 km off the Norwegian coastline, West of Stavanger. The contract is valued at approximately $ 60 million.

First LNG Booking for Damen Shiprepair Brest

Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) received its first firm booking for the drydocking, maintenance and repair of an LNG carrier. The Bonny Gas Transport-owned, 79,822 DWT LNG Sokoto was scheduled to arrive at the yard at the end of last week for maintenance work, including drydocking.
